Fisher Outdoor Leisure Ltd

Founded out of the ashes of “The Concert Grand Gramophone Company” in 1934 by Joe Fisher, Fisher has grown to be the strongest name in the supply of cycle accessories and components to the UK cycle trade.

Originally, the business was a mixture of general electrical components and cycle accessories but added car accessories in the 1950’s. By the late 1960’s the well-established but then unremarkable business was taken over by the son of the founder, the late Cliff Fisher. He had a keen interest in the growing demand for cycle parts. Cliff Fisher became a well-known character in the UK cycle industry and gave the business its cycle trade identity. His two sons joined him in the early 1970’s and by 1980 the business had become exclusively cycle accessories and components.

The company enjoyed substantial growth in the 80’s following the explosive growth in demand for firstly BMX products and later Mountain Bike products. This growth continued throughout the 90’s by focusing on market leading branded products. The two sons Gordon and Trevor took over the company in 1990 when their father retired.

In June 2006 Fisher became a limited company following a management buy out, headed up by former commercial director, Richard Allmark. Following this Richard now assumes the Chief Executive responsibilities. Fisher has also recently increased its warehousing capacity to nearly 55,000ft, and now employs 80 staff.

Fisher’s product range consists mainly of key branded products, together with a range of own label product. The company operates a world-wide sourcing policy and is currently not involved in complete bicycles, outside of world-leading folding bike brand, Dahon. With over 30 brands distributed under exclusive distribution contracts, Fishers portfolio has become the strongest in the Cycle industry.
